La Trobe University was officially opened on 8 March 1967 by the Premier of Victoria. It began teaching during the first term of that year. La Trobe was the third university established in Victoria. It has grown to accommodate more than 15,000 students at its Bundoora campus and over 7,000 at campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Beechworth, Bendigo, Mildura, Mount Buller Melbourne City and Shepparton. Some of the best courses in the country are literally in the country! La Trobe University has eight campuses spread out across the state of Victoria, from Mildura in the west to Mt Buller in the east. Each multi-faculty campus has its own unique strengths and fields of speciality, but all benefit from close links with each other. Between them they offer over 140 courses in a variety of disciplines to over 26,000 students. The principal campus is located in Melbourne (Bundoora).

- IELTS : A minimum overall band score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0.
- TOEFL : Paper-based Test-A minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English. Computer-based Test-A minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing.
