Edinburgh¡¯s Telford College was established in 1968 and named after the great Scottish civil engineer, Thomas Telford. Today the College offers training and education in the arts, sciences, English Language and information technology, as well as in more traditional fields such as building, engineering and hospitality. The College currently operates from four campuses in north Edinburgh. In January 2006 it will move to a custom-built, leading-edge £60 million complex. Around 18,000 students attend the College. Some arrive straight from school, others have been away from study for several years. Edinburgh¡¯s Telford College is experienced in dealing with overseas students who come from many parts of the world. An increasing number of students come to Telford instead of going directly to university. The College provides a bridge between school and the independence needed at university.
