The DVC faculty is composed of 300 full-time and 370 part-time instructors. Most hold advanced degrees. They bring academic and technical expertise to the classroom to an unusually high degree for lower division instruction.
At 54%, students at the freshman level represent the largest single component of the student body.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and enrollment fees will be collected in full at the time of registration. International student tuition for the 2004-2005 academic year is $178 per unit. As indicated on the explanation of costs on the Financial Certification form, students must verify that they have available approximately $17,849 per academic year (or $20,000 for 12 months including the summer session.)
Admissions
Students must have a certain level of English proficiency to succeed at DVC. This requirement is usually fulfilled by submitting a TOEFL result with a minimum score of 173 on the computerized TOEFL (500 on the institutional test) or a 5.0 bandwidth score on the IELTS. If you do not have the required English proficiency you may attend the intensive English language program offered through the International Education Center (IEC) at Diablo Valley College before attending DVC. You will be allowed to complete a high level at IEC or attempt to get your required TOEFL/IELTS score while studying in their program.
