Founded in 1884 by Michigan educator and statesman Woodbridge N. Ferris, the University has developed a modern, 880-acre campus in Big Rapids, in west central Michigan's vacation-recreation country.
Ferris State is a career-oriented public university located in Big Rapids, Michigan. More than 170 degrees are offered through the colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education and Human Services, Optometry, Pharmacy, and Technology.
Approximately 200 student organizations are active on campus, encompassing social, athletic, political, performing arts and religious activities and interests. Arts and cultural events, varsity athletics and an extensive intramural sports program further enrich student life.

Admission
International students are required to submit an application for admission along with the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and documented proof of adequate financial resources. Students who have achieved a minimum score of 500 on the TOEFL(173 on the computer-based TOEFL) may be admitted directly to regular level coursework; while applicants below the minimum 500 score may be directed to Ferris' Intensive English Program. A minimum TOEFL score is not required for admission to the Intensive English Program.
