Lane was founded in 1964, the main campus opened in 1968.
Lane's main campus is located in the south hills of Eugene, Oregon at 4000 East 30th Avenue, and the phone number for the main switchboard is (541) 463-3000. Lane serves a 4,600 square mile area from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean (this is an area larger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined). The college has a number of locations including the main campus and Downtown Center in Eugene, centers in Cottage Grove and Florence, a Flight Technology Center at the Eugene Airport, community learning centers at seven area high schools, and other outreach sites.
More than 15,000 students take credit classes at Lane each year. During the 2002-03 school year, 15,299 students enrolled in credit classes and 19,095 people enrolled in noncredit classes. Lane has the third largest enrollment of the 17 community colleges in Oregon.

Admissions
Proof of English language proficiency - A TOEFL minimum score of 153 on the computer based test or 475 on the paper based test is required OR IELTS score of 5.5. OR STEP Eiken Pre-1st Grade. TOEFL scores between 140 and 153 (460 - 475) will be considered.
