In 1873 brothers Addison and Randolph Clark established AddRan Male and Female College in Thorp Spring, Texas. In 1895 the college moved to Waco where its name was changed to Texas Christian University. After a campus fire in Waco the university moved to Fort Worth in 1910 and opened three
new buildings on the present campus the following year. Texas Christian University is located five miles from the heart of downtown Fort Worth, a city that has a vibrant mix of historic character, commerce, culture and entertainment all accentuated by its warm, friendly people. TCU offers 98 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate degrees in 59 areas, including six doctoral fields of study. As an independent, self-governing university, TCU exercises the freedom to set the goals and objectives that best serve its students and community in a constantly changing world.

For those whose native language is not English. Students who score at least 550 (paper-based TOEFL) or 213 (computer-based TOEFL) may enroll in degree studies on a full-time basis. You may substitute an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) band score of 6.5. The TOEFL may be waived for applicants with strong SAT or ACT scores or for those who have completed at least 24 hours of transferable academic credit (including English composition) from a U.S. college.
