Tufts University, founded in 1852, is recognized among the premier research universities in the United States. The second oldest institution of higher learning in metropolitan Boston, Tufts offers undergraduate and graduate opportunities to approximately 8,000 students. The 4,600 undergraduates pursue degrees on our Medford campus, located on a hilltop with spectacular views of Boston, in the two undergraduate colleges of liberal arts and engineering. The remaining 3,500 graduate students pursue studies in the following schools in the greater Boston metropolitan area.
There are currently over 71 countries represented in the undergraduate student body. Of the 4,800 undergraduates, 8% are non-U.S. citizens. Furthermore, nearly 15% of the students are foreign citizens, permanent residents, or U.S. citizens who live overseas.
