Founded in 1903, WMU grew during its first century from a regional teachers college to an internationally known institution of higher education. WMU's main campus is located in Kalamazoo, covers more than 550 acres, and includes 125 buildings.

In addition, financial support documents, an English proficiency score (TOEFL of 500 or 173CBT for restricted enrollment; 550 or 213 CBT for unrestricted enrollment), and the application fee must also be provided to OISS . When all these materials are provided and the admission criteria are met, OISS admissions staff issues the initial Certificates of Eligibility (I-20 or IAP-66) to admitted students.
